AFC U20 Asian Cup Qualifiers
There’s something special about being at a night match in Vientiane.
The New Laos National Stadium is glowing under the floodlights, the yellow seats slowly filling up, and that little Laos flag waving just behind me in the stands. You can feel the excitement building as the AFC U20 Asian Cup Qualifiers roll on.
Group H has already given us a good start. Australia looked sharp and beat the hosts 2-0 on the opening night, while Indonesia and Malaysia played out a tight 0-0. Now everyone’s looking ahead to the next round of matches — Laos against Indonesia, and Malaysia taking on Australia. Nothing is settled yet.
What I love most is the atmosphere. Local fans showing up, a few travelling supporters mixed in, and that quiet buzz you only get when the lights come on and the young players step out onto the pitch. These kids are playing for a spot in the 2027 finals in China, and you can see how much it means to them.
It’s not just another tournament. It’s one of those nights that reminds you why we love football — the lights, the flags, the hope, and a stadium full of people who just want to see good football.
